If I didn't love you
03:58
|
|||
If I didn't love you, I could not breath
The air is getting thin up here while I'm waiting to leave.
If I didn't love you, I wouldn't want to stay
Getting dizzy in the moment keeping the cold at bay.
If I didn't love you I might not see
Every little thing you do here every thing you do for me.
If I didn't love you then I wouldn't want to stay,
in the centre of your world each and every day.
If you really loved me you wouldn't want me to change
If i could move mountains then the empires I'd rearrange.
If you really loved me you'd not have wanted it all
If I knew how to reach you we probably wouldn't fall.
It's my fault I shouldn't have loved you
It's my fault I shouldn't have tried
It's my fault for loving you
I shouldn't have felt, I shouldn't have cried
If I didn't love you I wouldn't feel this way
The world would keep on turning each and every day.
If I didn't love you I wouldn't feel so cold
knowing I'll be without you as I grow old.

We're not all the same but we're all related
Not all in the game but we're all playin' it
You cry your heart out at little things
I try to comfort you, with little things
We're not all the same but we're all related
we're not all in the game but we're all playin' it
Your clear blue eyes, can reflect the sun
My clear blue thoughts don't hurt any one
I sigh out loud sometimes, I might wear a frown
that doesn't mean honey, I don't want you around
We're all the same but we're not all related
we're all in the game and we're all playin' it
Politicians are trying their best but it's so complicated
The next ones will still make a mess, that much is fated
Some people are looking for peace but just ain't that strong
But a soldier fighting for peace seems incredibly wrong
We're not all the same but we're all related
we're not all in the game but we're all playin' it
Two people can be so close, yet fight all the time
Love is a battelground, makes no reason or rhyme
We're all in the game, we're all related,
We're all the same, yeah, we're all playing it
We're all in the game and we're all related,
We're not all the same, but it's so complicated

Keep it simple
01:27
|
|
||
Keep it simple, keep it clean,
this could have been the best day that there's ever been
the sun is shining, and we're having fun
there's a happy feeling for each and every one
keep it simple, keep it queen
all the riches in the world won't make you free
you don't need money, just to keep them beat
you don't need honey when you taste so sweet
keep it simple, keep it green
you're the best thing that I've ever seen
you give smiles without it needing to be said
you take the heavy thoughts from off my head
you give love without asking in return
you teach me things I didn't think I'd need to learn
keep it simple, don't be mean
a little kindness will keep you clean

I dreamt I'd be an artist but I ended up a booking clerk
for a funeral parlour in Great Yarmouth
that was selling resting places by the yard
And I didn't ever want to stay there, I knew I wouldn't get that far
I thought I'd make it to the city, I thought I'd play a better part
So I thought that I might be a sailor and sail across the briny sea
Find myself a pretty little mermaid to
come back and live at home with me
But a mermaid wouldn't live a life on dry land
And I knew I couldn't spend my life at sea
So I thought I'd try another kind of life again
I thought I'd try to find a better me
My hands grew hard from working as a farmer
I tried my best to feed the common man
My sweat fell on the soil to feed the flowers
and the rain washed it far into the sand
But the people wouldn't eat the food I grew them
and the birds ate the seeds right off the trees
the rain it fell and washed away the crops I grew
and i knew a farmers life was not for me
So I bought myself a smart dark blue suit
and a shirt from a man in Saville Row
and I found myself a desk in an office
so I could teach myself things I didn't need to know
and I was the boss of a little man
and a taller man was leaning over me
every day I picked my peck of paperclips
and Peter pickled penny thoughts for free
And I stood on the platform at the station
whistling the earworm in my head
asking why I had forgotten why I came here
and the truth I thought I heard she said
that life is not the thing that you would live for
and straight lines are just straight lines until they bend
you can live the life you choose until its over
and the train will always get you in the end

Come home soon
03:23
|
|
||
Are you ever coming home
I'm just sitting here alone
You've been out on the town
Have you been having fun, acting like a clown
I've been waiting here for you
Well I had nothing better to do
You told me that you'd be home soon
But now the candle's gone out and
I'm sitting by the light of the moon
You say that I shouldnt worry about you
You tell me you'll always be true
It's not that I don't believe what you said
But the night is dark and my eyes are turning red
I've been waiting here for you
I had nothing better to do
You told me that you'd be back home soon
And I'm sitting here feeling like some sort of goon
I've been waiting here for you
Well I had nothing better to do
You told me that you'd be home soon
Now the candle's gone out
and I've been howling at the moon

So many accusations hanging round the town
I'm sick of all the people who keep on hanging around
You know I didn't do it
You've known me all my life
I'm not that good at lieing
I'm not brave enough to try
So many accusations hanging round the town
I'm tired of all the guilty eyes that are quick to put me down
You know I couldn't do that
I'd never cross that line
But I've been living in the shadows
For nearly half my life
Many of my foes live in glass houses throwing stones
They need to find a way to hate just short of breaking my bones
But you know I couldn't do that
I'm not that kind of guy
You never spoke my language
You have never heard me cry
So many accusations flying all around
I don't think I can say what's really rooted on the ground
All this fear and confusion and misery
I never thought the eyes would be staring hard at me
You know I didn't do it
can't believe the things they say
It's hard to really know
anybody anyway

The snow's settled deep I've got my big boots on
There's bears out there so I carry a gun
Fire's burning down but the embers ain't gone
And I'm chopping wood so tomorrow won't come
Sometimes this old life takes its toll
and you won't stop me from growing old
You keep on looking for that pot of gold
but there ain't no rainbow at the end of the road
Well these days are cold and bitter too
I'm growing older while I'm waiting for you
The engine's running but there's nothing to do
Driving round in circles won't ever get you through
The chickens ain't laid in a week or two
Foxes bide their time and are laying low
If you play chicken there ain't nowhere to go
If you're a hen-pecked feather-covered soup-full-of-bones

Woody's song
04:08
|
|||
Sometimes these days can seem so long
and everything you do goes wrong
Even getting out of bed is tough
and the night can't come soon enough
But when you feel like life is weighing you down
and you seem a lot more lost than found
Listen to the words that Woody said
They're worth repeating, keep them in your head
You've got to love everybody and write a song a day
Don't get lonesome as you go on your way
Eat and dream right and dance all night
Make your mind up yeah wake up and fight
Like Woody said in nineteen forty two
This next year is gonna rule for you
You know that life can be so cruel
and sometimes play you for the fool
People aren't always on your side
They've got their own and they'll take you for a ride
But it don't matter to me and it shouldn't matter to you
What ever other people have, don't make it right for you
Find your own way to walk a crooked mile
The rain will end soon and the sun will smile
Like Woody said in nineteen forty two
This next year is gonna rule for you
You've got to love everybody and write a song a day
Don't get lonesome as you go on your way
Eat and dream right and dance all night
Make your mind up yeah wake up and fight

Waking up with you
04:29
|
|
||
When I wake up in the morning
and bring you coffee in bed
And you get up in the morning
Shake the sleep out of your head
And the sun's out shining brightly
in a sky that's deep and blue
Every morning that I wake up
I'm glad I wake up with you
Like the Tulips in the springtime
You make my heart sing
Like the birds in the trees
I'm always glad you're here with me
Put the flowers in the vase there
I'll put the kettle on
Put some more logs on the fire
We can keep eachother warm
Sitting with you in my arms love
and that smile upon your face
I feel I'm lucky dear to have you
I know this is my only place
Radio chatter in the background
The wind plays music in the leaves
Your face rosy like the sunshine
Your smile brings me to my knees
I know you make me happy
and I know I'm happy to be
In the warmth of your love dear
and you here in love with me

Dave

Dave, you say that you're good and that you're a little bit misunderstood
but you don't know the right thing to say, these days
Dave, you say that you're worried and you're a little bit changed
but you can't always stay the same, these days
oh, Dave the modern world is sorry
but you don't seem to fit in well these days
Dave, you're having trouble sleeping and you've nothing to feel guilty about
Dave, you're having trouble weeping there's nothing much that you feel like crying about
Oh, and you know, you used to feel something

Song about time
02:20
|
|
||
I've got nothing to say 'til we get there
so don't slow down
I've got nothing to say 'til we get there
so let's not turn around
The wild roses wrap round the tree trunk
and the grapes wither on the vine
Oh young men you'll all grow old soon
we'll all turn to dust in time
Oh the people will be gone in a moment
and their bones will burn with lime
so go and live for the moment
because you cannot battle time
The time it takes is its own now
for you cannot hurry time
That moment you brought has gone now
because you cannot borrow time
But the snow will fall from the mountains
and the rivers all end up at the sea
New buds will blossom and die again
and in death you'll sleep with me
Oh the feeling will be gone in a moment
and the weather will turn out fine
so go and live for the moment
'cos you cannot battle time

I'm a simple man, in a complicated world
I do what I can, and just watch each day unfurl
I don't seek out surprises, and I don't go seeking fame
And I guess it's not surprising that my troubles still remain.
One thing that never changes is the love you give to me
You make me feel a weight has gone and one day I'll be free
So I want for nothing and no adventure do I need
When I have you in my heart for all the world to see
I'll never leave you baby
You know I never could
Eventhough you sometimes think I might
and even tell me that I should
seek out things I haven't seen
and dream and look and find
But I'll never leave you baby
On that you can rely
I'm a simple man and I don't ask much from life
It doesn't give me much but enough just to survive
I don't seek out great riches or diamonds or a pearl
I don't need any of those things when I have you in my world
